Environmentalism as a religion

The mainstream media has played a hugely successful role in corrupting the ‘science’ of global warming, aka climate change, into the fashionable new eco-religion that it has become today.

Add literally, trillions of government ‘green’ (taxpayer money), a ton of celebrity eco-virtue-signalling, a pinch of data manipulation, and the religion of ‘climate change’ has rapidly morphed into, as Harold Lewis, Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University California, famously coined in his blistering resignation letter to the APS:

“The greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist.”

Hence, we give thanks to “The world’s most viewed site on global warming and climate change” – WUWT, led by Pastor Watts, for giving us our daily dose of climate reason and rationalism! Amen 🙏

Nice post Anthony.

Watts Up With That?

The late Dr. Michael Crichton was wonderful writer. In 2003 he presented a wonderful essay in San Francisco equating environmentalism to religion. Nobel prize winning physicist Dr. Ivar Giaver makes the same point in a presentation here. In religion man is meant to be saved from the consequences of his sins. In the environmentalist religion the world was a wonderful, beautiful Eden until man and his technology came along. Man has eaten the apple and lost Eden. Now we must give up our “evil” technology and go back to nature, otherwise all is lost.

As Crichton notes:

“There is no Eden. There never was. What was that Eden of the wonderful mythic past? Is it the time when infant mortality was 80%, when four children in five died of disease before the age of five? When one woman in six died in childbirth? When the average lifespan was 40…

Wash-out: Warmist Bureau’s Drought Prediction Fail

Floods Hit Victoria (Source : Herald Sun)

Yet another alarmist scare out of the warmist Australian Bureau of Meteorology, wrecked by Mother Nature.

Either that or they put way too much ‘faith’ in their junk-in, junk-out computer models.

The litany of failed, alarmist predictions is why scientific organisations, such as the BoM, have – tragically – become almost the last places to hear the truth about global warming climate change.

The ‘Meteorological Office’ used to exist as a corrective to scaremongering, not any more.

From Herald Sun

Floods? Near-record rainfall? I’d like the head of climate predictions at the Bureau of Meteorology to explain why his 2008 prediction of a “new climate” of drought turned out so wrong.

2008:

IT MAY be time to stop describing south-eastern Australia as gripped by drought and instead accept the extreme dry as permanent, one of the nation’s most senior weather experts warned yesterday.

“Perhaps we should call it our new climate,” said the Bureau of Meteorology’s head of climate analysis, David Jones.

2016:

Winter was Australia’s second wettest on record – just missing out on a new high by a couple of millimetres, leaving many regions already sodden.

“It’s about as wet as it has been in the past 110 years [of records] across Australia,” David Jones, head of climate predictions at the Bureau of Meteorology, said.

Expert: Recent studies show September ice extent of 3-5 mkm2 did not kill polar bears off as predicted

There has been a massive expansion of thick Arctic Sea ice since 2012.

So much for the persistent dire warnings of an “Ice-Free Arctic” and “Dying Polar Bears”!

What other falsehoods are you told by alarmist climate scientists and the global warmist media?

Watts Up With That?

Dr. Susan Crockford asks me to bring this to your attention. She writes:

The annual Arctic sea ice minimum for 2016 is imminent and the hand-wringing about polar bear survival has already begun. While this year isshaping up to be another very low sea ice minimum in the Arctic – not as low as 2012 but lower than 2007 (previously the 2nd lowest since 1979) – contrary to predictions, several recent studies show that such low sea ice coverage in summer has had no (or very limited) negative effects on polar bear health and survival. In fact, for polar bears in some areas low summer sea ice has been quite beneficial (although these are not the populations that polar bear specialists predicted would do better).

Since low summer extents of recent magnitude (3.0 – 5.0 mkm2) are clearly not any sort of threat to polar…
