CHALLENGING times ahead for the Climate Crisis Industry with another icon of Armageddon – Greenland – defying climate model forecasts and the usual swill of dire prognostications from the mainstream media.

CNN recently published an Uber-sexy photographic essay on the great ice continent, “What it’s like at the ground zero of climate change”.

THE photographs are incredible and well worth a look. The written content, definitely not up to the same standard. Shock news. CNN’s Kyle Almond, flooding the story with the same emotional, hyper-alarmist AGW talking points that aren’t matching, anymore, what’s really going on at “ground zero”, according to the latest hard data from NSIDC and DMI.

GLACIER CALVING

THE main thrust of the piece is of calving glaciers.

But when a glacier breaks up, the images can be breathtaking — and a sobering reminder of the trouble we are in.”

MEMO to Kyle: Glacier calving is an entirely natural process, reflecting the very health of a glacier. The more snow that falls, the more icebergs come out the other end!

Many glaciers terminate at oceans or freshwater lakes which results naturally[5] with the calving of large numbers of icebergs. Calving of Greenland‘s glaciers produce 12,000 to 15,000 icebergs each year alone.[6]

Ice calving – Wikipedia

ELLA Gilbert from the British Antarctic Survey who is often asked why icebergs break away…

“It’s complicated,” she explains. “The region is clearly undergoing a lot of change but you can’t just say ‘it was the climate’. Iceberg calving is a natural process anyway. If you put more snow in at one end, it has to come out the other end as icebergs.”

ARCTIC TEMPS

ANOTHER common talking point used by Almond and fellow alarmists is that the Arctic “is warming twice as fast as the rest of the planet.”

HadCRUT4 shows no trend in warming over the past 12 years. With temps as warm in the 1930’s and 1940’s.

ARCTIC temps were below the average nearly everyday during this years summer melt season and are now back below freezing.

THE NEW HOCKEY STICK!

WHAT definitely wasn’t included in Almond’s propaganda piece was the sharp increase in net ice mass that has been trending for around a decade.

Tropical Cyclones and Global Warming: A Reality Check

MASTERFUL Australian tropical cyclone report by Kenskingdom exposing more of the endless lies and falsehoods disseminated by global-warming-theory-obsessed politicians, and so eagerly published without any basic fact-checking by the global-warming-theory-obsessed, taxpayer funded national broadcaster – the ABC!

ASTONISHING and reckless “denial” of the actual truth.

WHAT other climate falsehoods do politicians and the ABC tell you about climate change in order to drive their pet-agenda and push fake fixes to a fake scare?

Recently there was widespread media reporting of Queensland Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford’s release of “a plan designed to help first responders get ready for future weather extremes.”

In the ABC Online report, these quotes from Mr Crawford are emphasised:

“There are plenty of people out there who are climate change sceptics… but the consensus is our fire seasons are getting hotter and longer and our flood and cyclone seasons are certainly getting stronger and more frequent.”

“If we’re going to have cyclones happening in parts of Queensland that they don’t normally happen right now it means that we’re going to have to expand all the areas where we have response training, capability and everything like that,” Mr Crawford said.

Cyclone seasons getting stronger and more frequent?  Cyclones happening in parts of Queensland that they don’t normally happen right now?  Time for a reality check.

Icebreaker encounters most difficult ice conditions in 15 years

22/08/2018 AV KATHRIN STEPHEN

A Swedish icebreaker on the way to the North Pole has encountered heavy ice conditions and had to stop just before the North Pole.

The Swedish icebreaker Oden embarked to the North Pole from Svalbard last week but encountered difficult ice conditions not seen in one and a half decades.

The captain of the Oden icebreaker described the ice conditions as the most difficult in the past fifteen years.

The pack ice the ship encountered north of 80° was very dense, piled together through a months-long northward ice drift in the Central Arctic Ocean, meereisportal.de reports.

Overall, however, the Arctic’s summer sea ice extent is again very small; the Oden hit the ice edge only at 82°N.

Destination in jeopardy

The dense ice pack left hardly any patches of open water for the ship to navigate between the massive ice floes. The crew and researchers were thus faced with the situation that the North Pole could possibly not be reached.

However, about 200 km before the Pole the situation improved with the Oden encountering younger, thinner ice and tracks of open ice left by a Russian icebreaker plowing the area a few days before.

Massive ice floe blocks North Pole

About four miles away from the North Pole, the Oden eventually had to stop its journey since a massive ice flow on the top of the Pole prevented the onward journey, meereisportal.de reports.

MORE real-world evidence that the Arctic is not in a “Death Spiral” or “Screaming” and certainly not “Ice-Free”, as the mainstream media and activist climate ‘scientists’ like NSIDC director Mark Serreze have promised you for years.

BACK IN THE REAL WORLD

DATA from the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) record indicates how the Swedish icebreaker – Oden – found itself struggling in the stubborn, thick summer sea-ice that is apparently “screaming” and “Ice-Free” by now.

2.0 – 3.0 metre-thick sea ice covers a vast extent of the Arctic basin:

NO trend in Arctic sea-ice volume/thickness over the past decade. Though, there’s been a big build up in 2018 of 2.0-3.0 meter thick, multi-year sea ice that has stymied Oden’s travels:

TOTAL ice loss since the winter peak, has been the lowest in the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) record:

ARCTIC temps were below the average nearly everyday during the summer melt season:

THERE has been no trend in Arctic sea ice extent over the last 12 years:

***

WITH the Arctic in good shape, and certainly no sign of imminent meltdown at either pole, it’s hard to see the “climate crisis” that the mainstream media, activist ‘scientists’ and politicians insist is upon us.

EVEN harder to see how policy makers can justify deindustrialisation of the Western world through draconian, UN climate Paris-policies based on overheated UN climate models, fear, propaganda, and not observed reality.

DO politicians even look at empirical data or “the science” anymore? Or does the wicked truth expose their scam, hindering globalist intentions?

DON’T expect an apology or correction from any of these interest groups, now heavily invested in climate alarm, anytime soon.

TOO many jobs, reputations and egos are now at stake. And, access to unlimited “Save The Planet” taxpayer trillions, immune to oversight.

Animals more used to desert heat have been photographed enjoying the snow after a cold front brought snowfall to parts of South Africa over the weekend.

Giraffes, antelope, rhinoceroses and elephants were photographed in icy conditions around South Africa, in pictures shared widely on social media.

Kitty Viljoen captured elephants enjoying the snow in the Sneeuberg – which translates to Snow Mountain – on the Western Cape of South Africa, where snow set in late last week. She also photographed giraffes in snow in the Karoo semi-desert region.

Antelope on the Glen Harry Game reserve in Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape, were also pictured surrounded by icy vegetation.

Snowfall across parts of South Africa late last week prompted the department of transport to close roads across the Eastern Cape due to slippery conditions.

The snow also hit the Western Cape, where temperatures dropped below zero across parts of Cederberg, the Hex River Mountains and the Matroosberg Reserve.

A weather forecast for the weekend, produced by Snow Report South Africa, shows snowfalls in the Northern, Western and Eastern Cape, as well as in the state of Kwazulu-Natal, with some areas receiving more than 25cm of snow across three days.

Lesotho, which is an independent country surrounded by South Africa, was due to receive the heaviest covering of snow, with roughly two-thirds of the country predicted to receive snowfall.

Snowfalls are not infrequent across parts of South Africa during the winter, though this cold snap comes late in the season. In July, parts of the country were blanketed after several days of heavy snowfall.

LITTLE gem of a read by Harry Wilkinson on the condition of the Polar Ice Caps and the overtly propagandised meltdown hysteria promulgated by alarmist ‘scientists’ and their government institutions, gleefully pimped out by the ever-compliant global warming theory-obsessed mainstream media.

WILKINSON lays out basic empirical facts that shamelessly contradict the repetitive “Death Spiral” moans from climate and Arctic experts alarmists.

THE piece is a welcome reminder to be cautious of the selective bias that the mainstream media is willing to share with you on all things global warming climate change:

“These facts get little coverage because they don’t sound alarming at all, and for most reporters that means they’re not news. These ‘inconvenient truths’ are nonetheless a helpful reminder that climate change coverage should be taken with a healthy dose of scepticism.”

Arctic sea ice just won’t play the game

Arctic sea ice is proving remarkably reluctant to enter its appointed ‘death throes’, despite the usual suspects having already planned the funeral. Climate Change Anxiety Disorder, it turns out, is yet to impose its angst on the actual climate, no matter how hard the BBC tries to make it.

The latest observations show that Arctic sea ice is on course to have a greater minimum extent than in 2015 and 2016, and is running higher than levels seen a decade ago. Back then, the BBC reported that Arctic summers may be ice-free by 2013, although this estimate was described as being ‘too conservative’.

That prediction was spectacularly wrong, and contrary to warnings of an ‘Arctic death spiral’, sea ice extent has been remarkably stable in the last decade. No one can say what exactly will happen next; if this humbling affair teaches anything it should be precisely that.

The climate has misbehaved in other ways too. The Greenland Ice Sheet has been gaining mass at a record rate for the second year running, and Antarctic sea ice extent is perfectly normal relative to the 1981-2010 average. These facts get little coverage because they don’t sound alarming at all, and for most reporters that means they’re not news. These ‘inconvenient truths’ are nonetheless a helpful reminder that climate change coverage should be taken with a healthy dose of scepticism. There is a long way to go before we can make accurate predictions about how the climate will behave, if indeed we ever can.

Climate science has to be more deeply grounded in real-world observations rather than models that are inevitably riddled with flawed human assumptions.

HURRICANE Florence: Nature’s Business As Usual, Not Climate Change

Carolinas major hurricane strikes

GOOD to put things into perspective before the hoards of Climate Change Ambulance Chasers jump on the Florence ‘fear’ train…

NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

By Paul Homewood

From Roy Spencer:

Although it is still 3-4 days away, rapidly strengthening Hurricane Florence is increasing the threat of a major hurricane landfall somewhere within 120 miles or so of Wilmington, NC. If it reaches that area as a Cat 4 storm, the damage produced will be extensive, likely amounting to tens of billions of dollars.

By coincidence, the hurricane disaster (if it unfolds) will occur during this year’s Global Climate Action Summit (Sept. 12-14) in San Francisco, possibly the most star-studded climate alarmist extravaganza in existence, with climate experts such as Al Gore, Alec Baldwin, Andrea Mitchell, Catherine McKenna, Dave Matthews, Jane Goodall, John Kerry, and Tom Steyer.

As we all know, these are people who lead by example in their efforts to reduce their so-called carbon footprints.

Attendees of the conference are almost guaranteed to point to Florence as an example of what we can…

NBC NEWS : Global Warming Will Likely Cause A Noticeable Shift In Our Appearance

FROM the “department of the absurd” comes this out of the global warming theory-obsessed NBC…

Climate change could affect human evolution. Here’s how.

Global warming will likely alter the internal workings of our bodies — and cause a noticeable shift in our appearance.

As climate change brings rising temperatures, droughts, shifting patterns of precipitation and longer growing seasons, plants and animals are evolving to keep pace.

Biologists have observed squirrels and salmon developing at an accelerated pace, causing them to reproduce at a younger age. Earlier summers have caused some flowers to bloom earlier in the year. And corals are forging new relationships with microscopic algae to survive in warmer, more acidic seas.

As the planet continues to warm, evolutionary changes are expected in other species as well — including Homo sapiens. Climate change will alter the internal workings of our bodies in subtle but significant ways and will likely cause a noticeable shift in our appearance.

INSIDE THE BODY

A warmer climate means malaria, West Nile virus and other diseases long confined primarily to the tropics will spread into temperate zones. As a result, people living in the U.S. and other developed nations will be exposed to these illnesses, and our immune systems will be forced to evolve new defenses. That, in turn, could cause other, noninfectious diseases.
