CLIMATE Ambulance Chaser – Peter Hannam – Blames Houston’s Residents For Harvey!

Screen Shot 2017-08-29 at , August 29, 11.38.12 AM

Houston, you have a problem, and some of it of your own making | Peter Hannam (Fairfax Media)

FAILING Fairfax Media’s resident climate change catastrophist Peter Hannam is officially off his meds, blaming Houston’s residents for the weather!

HANNAM couldn’t even wait for Harvey and the flooding to subside, for residents to find dry land, before slapping them around as the “self-styled “world capital of the oil and gas industry”” – brutishly and falsely linking the fossil fuel industry to extreme weather events.

MEMO to Peter : There is NO evidence that the use of fossil fuels has had any effect on “extreme weather”. In fact, even the alarmist UN IPCC begrudgingly admitted in their last climate report (AR5) a level of “low confidence” that human greenhouse gas emissions have had any effect on extreme weather events.

IN the IPCC’s own words from their SREX report : “We Do Not Know If The Climate Is Becoming More Extreme”.

FURTHERMORE, Hurricane Harvey that made landfall in Texas as a category four, ended America’s record 4,324 day major hurricane drought.

BUT, climate facts like these don’t seem to sit well for the alarmist ‘journalists’ over at Fairfax…the one’s that still remain!

PETER, if you’d even bothered to google ‘Galveston Hurricane‘ before perversely smearing and sliming Texan residents, you might have found this piece of perspective via wikipedia:

Screen Shot 2017-08-29 at , August 29, 12.37.55 PM

On September 8, 1900, a Category 4 hurricane ripped through Galveston, Texas, killing an estimated 6,000 to 8,000 people. It is still North America’s worst natural disaster ever recorded.

HOW developed were the Texan oil fields 117 years ago, Peter?

More via Herald Sun’s Andrew Bolt :

Sydney Morning Herald alarmist Peter Hannan stoops to a new low as floods hit Houston.

He treats weather as climate.

He ignores evidence that cyclones have actually got fewer over the past decades.

And he then blames the victims:

Yes, Houston, you do have a problem, and – as insensitive as it seems to bring it up just now – some of it is your own making…

Houston is facing worsening historic flooding in the coming days as Tropical Storm Harvey dumps rain on the city, swelling rivers to record levels.

But, as the self-styled “world capital of the oil and gas industry”, there’s a connection between rising global greenhouse gas levels and the extreme weather now being inflicted that some of your residents have understood for decades and had a hand in.

To see how deceitful this is, note these conclusions from the latest report on global warming by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Note also that the IPCC is alarmist, prone to exaggeration, yet is forced to admit:

In summary, there continues to be a lack of evidence and thus low confidence regarding the sign of trend in the magnitude and/or frequency of floods on a global scale…

In summary, this assessment does not revise the SREX conclusion of low confidence that any reported long-term (centennial) increases in tropical cyclone activity are robust… In summary, confidence in large scale changes in the intensity of extreme extratropical cyclones since 1900 is low… Over periods of a century or more, evidence suggests slight decreases in the frequency of tropical cyclones making landfall in the North Atlantic and the South Pacific, once uncertainties in observing methods have been considered…

Callaghan and Power (2011) find a statistically significant decrease in Eastern Australia land-falling tropical cyclones since the late 19th century…

Changes in extremes for other climate variables are generally less coherent than those observed for temperature… Analyses of land areas with sufficient data indicate increases in the frequency and intensity of extreme precipitation events in recent decades, but results vary strongly between regions and seasons. For instance, evidence is most compelling for increases in heavy precipitation in North America, Central America and Europe, but in some other regions—such as southern Australia and western Asia—there is evidence of decreases.

So there have actually been fewer cyclones or tropical storms like Harvey and little evidence of more floods. Yet Hannan seizes on one of the floods to regularly batter the US gulf coast and insists it’s caused by global warming.

What a snake oil salesman.

One of the world’s top climate scientists, Dr Roy Spencer, explains what Hannan won’t – that this cyclone was not the worst, the floods are not the highest, the deaths are not the greatest and the cause is not man-made:

The flood disaster unfolding in Houston is certainly very unusual. But so are other natural weather disasters, which have always occurred and always will occur…

Major floods are difficult to compare throughout history because the ways in which we alter the landscape. For example, as cities like Houston expand over the years, soil is covered up by roads, parking lots, and buildings, with water rapidly draining off rather than soaking into the soil. The population of Houston is now ten times what it was in the 1920s. The Houston metroplex area has expanded greatly and the water drainage is basically in the direction of downtown Houston.

There have been many flood disasters in the Houston area, even dating to the mid-1800s when the population was very low. In December of 1935 a massive flood occurred in the downtown area as the water level height measured at Buffalo Bayou in Houston topped out at 54.4 feet… By way of comparison, as of 6:30 a.m. this (Monday) morning, the water level in the same location is at 38 feet, which is still 16 feet lower than in 1935. I’m sure that will continue to rise.

Are the rainfall totals unprecedented?

Even that question is difficult to answer. The exact same tropical system moving at, say, 15 mph might have produced the same total amount of rain, but it would have been spread over a wide area, maybe many states, with no flooding disaster. This is usually what happens with landfalling hurricanes.

Instead, Harvey stalled after it came ashore and so all of the rain has been concentrated in a relatively small portion of Texas around the Houston area. In both cases, the atmosphere produced the same amount of rain, but where the rain lands is very different. People like those in the Houston area don’t want all of the rain to land on them.

There is no aspect of global warming theory that says rain systems are going to be moving slower, as we are seeing in Texas. This is just the luck of the draw. Sometimes weather systems stall, and that sucks if you are caught under one. The same is true of high pressure areas; when they stall, a drought results.

Even with the system stalling, the greatest multi-day rainfall total as of 3 9 a.m. this Monday morning is just over 30 39.7 inches, with many locations recording over 20 inches. We should recall that Tropical Storm Claudette in 1979 (a much smaller and weaker system than Harvey) produced a 43 inch rainfall total in only 24 hours in Houston.

Was Harvey unprecedented in intensity?

In this case, we didn’t have just a tropical storm like Claudette, but a major hurricane, which covered a much larger area with heavy rain. Roger Pielke Jr. has pointed out that the U.S. has had only four Category 4 (or stronger) hurricane strikes since 1970, but in about the same number of years preceding 1970 there were 14 strikes. So we can’t say that we are experiencing more intense hurricanes in recent decades.

Going back even earlier, a Category 4 hurricane struck Galveston in 1900, killing between 6,000 and 12,000 people. That was the greatest natural disaster in U.S. history.

And don’t forget, we just went through an unprecedented length of time – almost 12 years – without a major hurricane (Cat 3 or stronger) making landfall in the U.S.

So what makes this event unprecedented?

The National Weather Service has termed the event unfolding in the Houston area as unprecedented. I’m not sure why. I suspect in terms of damage and number of people affected, that will be the case. But the primary reason won’t be because this was an unprecedented meteorological event.

If we are talking about the 100 years or so that we have rainfall records, then it might be that southeast Texas hasn’t seen this much total rain fall over a fairly wide area. At this point it doesn’t look like any rain gage locations will break the record for total 24 hour rainfall in Texas, or possibly even for storm total rainfall, but to have so large an area having over 20 inches is very unusual…

Bill Read, a former director of the National Hurricane Center was asked by a CNN news anchor whether he thought that Harvey was made worse because of global warming. Read’s response was basically, No.

But Peter Hannan, paid alarmist, says yes, yes, yes.

WE all associate snowstorms with cold weather. But, the effects of snow on our climate and weather last long after the storm has passed. Due to snows reflective properties, its presence or absence influences patterns of heating and cooling over Earth’s surface more than any other single land surface feature.

CLIMATE models from the 1970s have consistently predicted that CO2-induced global warming climate change should be causing a significant decline in total snow cover. However, Global snow cover has actually increased since at least the start of the record (Connolly et al, 2019), leading to some scepticism within the scientific community about the validity of the climate models.

IN my humble opinion, the snow that keeps on falling, bolstered by the increased frequency and reliability of the solar-driven Polar Vortex, will be key determinants in the eventual and inevitable death of the Global Warming cult.

THE public can touch, see and feel the white fluffy stuff that needs cold air to proliferate. And, being a substance that they can interact with, it makes it far harder to “disappear”.

THEY will then become overtly suspicious of the increasingly shrill Hottest Year Evahh cries, yelled at every heat wave by climate luvvies.

2000 : Spiegel…

2004 : Mark Lynas told us…

“Snow has become so rare that when it does fall – often just for a few hours – everything grinds to a halt. In early 2003 a ‘mighty’ five-centimetre snowfall in southeast England caused such severe traffic jams that many motorists had to stay in their cars overnight. Today’s kids are missing out . . . Many of these changes are already underway, but have been accelerating over the last two decades. Termites have already moved into southern England. Garden centres are beginning to stock exotic sub-tropical species, which only a few years ago would have been killed off by winter…” – Mark Lynas

2005 : George Monbiot on climate change and snow…

Winter is no longer the great grey longing of my childhood. The freezes this country suffered in 1982 and 1963 are – unless the Gulf Stream stops – unlikely to recur. Our summers will be long and warm. Across most of the upper northern hemisphere, climate change, so far, has been kind to us…

2006 : Daniela Jacob of Max Planck Institute for Meterology, Hamburg…

“Yesterday’s snow… Because temperatures in the Alps are rising quickly, there will be more precipitation in many places. But because it will rain more often than it snows, this will be bad news for tourists. For many ski lifts this means the end of business.”

2006 : The Independent‘s somber editorial admonished us that the lack of snow was evidence of a “dangerous seasonal disorder”…

The countryside is looking rather peculiar this winter. It seems we have a number of unexpected guests for Christmas. Dragonflies, bumblebees and red admiral butterflies, which would normally be killed off by the frost, can still be seen in some parts of the country . . . Some might be tempted to welcome this late blossoming of the natural world as a delightful diversion from the bleakness of this time of year. But these fluctuations should be cause for concern because it is overwhelmingly likely that they are a consequence of global warming . . . all this is also evidence that global warming is occurring at a faster rate than many imagined…

2007 : Schleswig Holstein NABU

“Ice, snow, and frost will disappear, i.e. milder winters” … “Unusually warm winters without snow and ice are now being viewed by many as signs of climate change.”

2007 : Western Mail (Wales Online) … article, entititled “Snowless Winters Forecast for Wales as World Warms Up” quotes one of the global warming movement’s key figures, Sir John Houghton, former head of the IPCC and former head of the UK Met Office…

Former head of the Met Office Sir John Houghton, who is one of the UK’s leading authorities on climate change, said all the indicators suggest snowy winters will become increasingly rare He said, “Snowlines are going up in altitude all over the world. The idea that we will get less snow is absolutely in line with what we expect from global warming.”

2007 : Die Zeit

“First the snow disappears, and then winter.”

2008 : Another prediction

A study of snowfall spanning 60 years has indicated that the Alps’s entire winter sports industry could grind to a halt through lack of snow. It found a dramatic “step-like” drop in snowfall at the end of the 1980s which has never recovered, New Scientist magazine reported…. In some years the amount that fell was 60 per cent lower than was typical in the early 1980s, said Christoph Marty, from the Swiss Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research in Davos, who analysed the records. “I don’t believe we will see the kind of snow conditions we have experienced in past decades,” he said.

Enjoy snow now . . . by 2020, it’ll be gone | The Australian

2012 :

Griffith associate professor Catherine Pickering says snow is rapidly disappearing because of global warming and by 2020 Australia may not have any left.

“We’ve predicted by 2020 to lose something like 60 per cent of the snow cover of the Australian Alps,” Professor Pickering, from the Griffith School of Environment, said.

“Unfortunately because our current emissions and our current rises in temperatures are at the high end of the predictions, it’s definitely coming to us sooner and faster.”

2019 :

A low-pressure system will bring snow during Friday through Saturday, mostly above 1400m, but possibly reaching 1200m, followed by another cold surge and more snow during Sunday into Monday. All up we can expect 20-40cm across all resorts…

This season has already passed expectations… The latest reading from Spencer’s Creek a week ago was up at 228.8cm, which puts us well above average. But looking lower down at Deep Creek (1620m) and Three Mile Dam (1460m), snow depths are fairly average.

2014 : the global warming theory-obsessed New York Times touted “The End of Snow?”…

The truth is, it is too late for all of that. Greening the ski industry is commendable, but it isn’t nearly enough. Nothing besides a national policy shift on how we create and consume energy will keep our mountains white in the winter — and slow global warming to a safe level. screenhunter_314-feb-07-11-00

ALARMIST U-TURN!

NOW, of course, climate ‘scientists’ are trying to dig themselves out of snow that’s kept falling …

Looking back at 65 years’ worth of statistics, Environment Canada’s senior climatologist David Phillips noted that since 1948, winter temperatures in the prairie regions have increased by an average of four degrees Celsius… Ironically, warmer weather can mean greater snowfall. “As we warm up, we may see more moisture, we may see more moist air masses, and therefore we could very well see more snow rather than less snow, because the air masses are going to be more moist and so therefore you’re going to be able to wring out more snow than you would be if it was dry air,” Phillips said.

*

UNFORTUNATELY for CO2-centric climatologists like David Phillips, attempting to ‘dig’ themselves out of their “end of snow” predictions, abundant snow requires cold air to proliferate …

“The reality is cooling, not warming, increases snowfall.

“Interestingly, some scientists have stated that increasing snow is consistent with climate change because warmer air holds more moisture, more water vapor and this can result in more storms with heavy precipitation. The trick, of course, is having sufficient cold air to produce that snow. But note that 93% of the years with more than 60″ of snow in Boston were colder than average years. The reality is cooling, not warming, increases snowfall.

RETURN OF THE ‘POLAR VORTEX’

NORTHERN Hemisphere winters have been particularly brutal over the past decade thanks to a climatic system known as the “Polar Vortex”.

GRAPHIC - polarvortex_explained_updated 012919 - 4034x2912.png

Polar Vortex | NOAA

The polar vortex is a large area of low pressure and cold air surrounding the Earth’s North and South poles. The term vortex refers to the counter-clockwise flow of air that helps keep the colder air close to the poles (left globe). Often during winter in the Northern Hemisphere, the polar vortex will become less stable and expand, sending cold Arctic air southward over the United States with the jet stream (right globe). The polar vortex is nothing new  – in fact, it’s thought that the term first appeared in an 1853 issue of E. Littell’s Living Age.

The science behind the polar vortex | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

*

THE Polar Vortex is a direct threat to anyone in its path, promising life-threatening low temperatures that can shatter records and plunge regions into a deep freeze.

DUE to its increased frequency over the past decade, the Polar Vortex not only threatens business and affected communities, but also directly threatens the climate ‘science’ cabal and sycophant mainstream media whose “Hottest Year Evahh” PR campaign is being drowned out by the increased frequency of abnormally cold and deadly, fall and winter conditions.

HOT = COLD! SHUT UP AND OBEY!!

FULLY aware that the ‘inconvenient’ Polar Vortex cannot be told to politely ‘go away’, climate scientists have decided to write off the generationally-cold conditions as a result of a ‘warming’ planet.

This Is Why Global Warming Is Responsible For Freezing Temperatures Across The U.S.

The country is freezing in an unprecedented fashion, and global warming is to blame. Sound crazy? The cold snap that North America is experiencing east of the rocky mountains, with temperatures at Arctic-like levels, is real, but it’s only part of the story. Simultaneously, there are record warm temperatures happening in other parts of the world, from Australia to the actual Arctic.

While a small but vocal minority of people might use the faulty logic of, “it’s cold where I am, therefore global warming isn’t real,” even schoolchildren know that weather isn’t climate. But these extreme cold snaps have gotten more severe in recent years, due to a combination of global warming and a phenomenon you’ve likely heard of: the polar vortex. Here’s the science of how it works, and why global warming is paradoxically playing a major role in today’s record-low temperatures.

Snow in Texas and ice in Alabama? Bizarre cold weather could become more common | Nat Geo

Some scientists think, though, that the frequency and intensity of these kinds of cold interludes may be changing as the planet warms, as counterintuitive as that might sound.

“This Arctic outbreak is connected to the behavior of the jet stream and the polar vortex,” says Judah Cohen, an atmospheric scientist at MIT. And those, in turn, are affected by a changing climate—mostly by intense warming in the high Arctic.

The topic is controversial in the atmospheric science community, but some think they see a connection between a warmer planet and cold blasts of weather like the one North America is experiencing right now.

CONCLUSION

ANY student of history can look back and discover that all of history’s mass-murdering socialists — from Hitler to Stalin to Mao — have manufactured audacious lies and scapegoats as a means to consolidate power into a malevolent Central Authority.

THE global warming climate change scare, with its draconian, green centrally planned agenda and underlying misanthropic ideology, is no different. A grandiose con used by globalist elites in their never-ending lust for power and control.

Freedom is Slavery.

War is Peace.

Ignorance is Strength.

Cooling is Warming.

BEFORE the climate Taliban begins a bed-wetting jihad on this blog, let us get one thing straight – snow is weather, not ‘climate’.

HOWEVER, it’s worth noting, once again for the CO2-centrics, that we were all assured by the “97% consensus of expert, peer pal-reviewed scientists”, that snow would be a “thing of the past” and that “children just aren’t going to know what snow is.”

SO, let’s look at how snow is skyrocketing its way up the CO2 charts as the “overwhelming” symbol of imminent ‘global warming armageddon’…

Snow comes to aid of firefighters | Otago Daily Times Online News

Snow came to the assistance of firefighters tackling a blaze in inland Otago overnight.

Firefighters were alerted early today to a controlled burn which had gone out of control in vegetation at Ngapuna, north of Middlemarch, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said.

Volunteers from Middlemarch were initially called to the scene, near State Highway 87, about 12:16am.

The fire was apparently burning in tussock, on the side of the Rock and Pillar Range, and the area out of control may have been about 5ha, another spokesman said.

A helicopter was sent in at first light today to check the area and it was found that snow had fallen, containing the fire, and making further firefighting action unnecessary, the spokesman said.

“We left it to the snow,” he said.

THE SCIENCE WAS “SETTLED”

2000 : Spiegel…

“Good bye winter. Never again snow?”

Planning for a snowless future: “Our study is already showing that that there will be a much worse situation in 20 years.”

2006 : Daniela Jacob of Max Planck Institute for Meterology, Hamburg …

A study of snowfall spanning 60 years has indicated that the Alps’s entire winter sports industry could grind to a halt through lack of snow…. In some years the amount that fell was 60 per cent lower than was typical in the early 1980s, said Christoph Marty, from the Swiss Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research in Davos, who analysed the records. ”I don’t believe we will see the kind of snow conditions we have experienced in past decades,” he said.

This is no longer a scientific debate. It is scientific fact. The greatest fear of most climate scientists is continued complacency that leads to a series of natural climatic feedbacks…”

‘SCIENCE’ U-TURN!

*

UNFORTUNATELY for CO2-centric climatologists like David Phillips, attempting to ‘dig’ themselves out of their “end of snow” dud-predictions, you need cold air to make snow!

VETERAN Boston meteorologist Barry Burbank explains …

“Interestingly, some scientists have stated that increasing snow is consistent with climate change because warmer air holds more moisture, more water vapor and this can result in more storms with heavy precipitation. The trick, of course, is having sufficient cold air to produce that snow. But note that 93% of the years with more than 60″ of snow in Boston were colder than average years. The reality is cooling, not warming, increases snowfall.

CONCLUSION

LISTEN to what the ‘experts’ promised you back then. Because, if they got it wrong then, how can you trust what they are foretelling today or tomorrow? The answer is you cannot, because they have no idea what long-range conditions Mother Nature is going to serve up in such a “chaotic” and complex system as our climate.

AND, importantly, does the CSIRO and “97% of all climate experts” still stand by their “end of snow” predictions? Or is their alarmist sophistry simply more global warming climate change fear-mongering based on CO2-centric ideology, eco-religious dogma and overheated UN IPCC and CSIRO climate computer models that do not accord with observed reality?

‘END OF SNOW’ UPDATE : Natural Snow Depth In Australia The Highest In Two Decades

'END OF SNOW' UPDATE - Natural Snow Depth In Australia The Highest In Two Decades

Heaviest snow in years expected over WA’s Stirling Ranges this weekend as cold blast hits – ABC News

WEATHER is, of course, not climate.

WE are keenly reminded of this fact by our global warming climate change hysterical friends ‘if’ a significant snow event or cold blast is reported on the media.

THOUGH, do keep in mind the “End-Of-World” prophecies declared by our same friends every time a two-day heat wave (in summer) is reported, on repeat, throughout the mainstream media.

THE rules are simple – cold equals weather, hot equals climate!

*

SKIING in Australia takes place in the high country of the states of New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, as well as in the Australian Capital Territory (Canberra), during the southern hemisphere winter. The season varies between ski fields and years, starting from mid June and ending mid October. The past three years have seen extended seasons across most higher altitude resorts.

THE 2019 ski season started early after the heaviest May snow in decades across Australia’s east coast.

WHILE most of the regular season since then has been ‘regular’, the latter half has been anything but, with the past two weeks seeing record snow dumps.

OFFICIAL MEASUREMENTS

SNOWY Hydro have been measuring weekly natural snow depths at three locations the Snowy Mountains of NSW since the 1950’s. Their highest measuring site is at Spencers Creek (1,830m elevation) near Charlotte Pass.

THE latest readings have been impressive. Record-breaking, in fact …

ACCORDING to Elders weather:

The natural snow depth at Spencers Creek was 202.7cm this week. This is the earliest date for a depth of two metres to be measured at Spencers Creek in 15 years.

It’s also an increase of 77.5cm from last week and, impressively, the third weekly increase of more than 70cm so far this season. This is a new record for Spencers Creek. Prior to 2019, there had only ever been two weekly depth increases 70cm or more in any one season, with data available back to 1954.

While there have been some long periods without any significant snow this season, when it has snowed, it’s been exceptional in a historical context.

Many of these changes are already underway, but have been accelerating over the last two decades. Termites have already moved into southern England. 2008 : Another prediction

U-TURN!

AND, most importantly, does the CSIRO and “97% of all climate experts” still stand by their ‘end of snow’ predictions? Or is their alarmist sophistry simply more global warming climate change fear-mongering based on CO2-centric ideology, eco-religious dogma and overheated UN IPCC and CSIRO climate computer models that do not accord with observed reality?

IN parting, keep in mind how the Climate Change theory-obsessed mainstream media sells you snow in the era of Global Warming theory-madness

GLOBAL WARMING FAIL : Record Snow When You Were Assured By Climate ‘Scientists’ That There Would Be None

WHEN will the CSIRO, Australia’s premier ‘scientific’ body retract their 2001 “no snow by 2020” prediction?

REAL science has provided humanity with an unequivocal advantage over the ravages of nature’s most potent enemies – weather, climate and the A-Z of viral and bacterial intrusions.

IT has achieved this through a simple yet rigorous process known as the scientific method. The goal, to prove a hypothesis wrong, not right.

IF all tests and computations of empirical evidence cannot be falsified, then the hypothesis stands until such other evidence disproves the finding.

“97% CONSENSUS” U.N. climate ‘science’ fails the ‘scientific method’ time and time again.

A classic example of this failure of scientific rigour and the unwillingness to disprove a hypothesis is in the arena of snow.

GLOBALLY, winter and spring snow levels have risen significantly since records began in the late 70’s, according to, accredited, Rutgers University data. With a significant rise in snowpack recorded over the past decade – the years we are constantly told are “the hottest ever”.

GLOBAL WARMING alarmists now claim that current abnormal snow levels are “to be expected” in a “warming world”. What they refuse to accept, in their CO2-centric psychosis, is that in order to produce snow, you need *cold* air.

THE big question still remains: Is Australia’s premier science body, the CSIRO, and the Ski industry willing to retract their 2002 “no snow by 2020” prediction?

HERE’s some recent ‘global’ evidence that these “experts” should consider…

Like those who rely on the Great Barrier Reef, the Australian ski industry sees itself as a frontline victim of global warming. A 2003 CSIRO report, part-funded by the ski industry, found that the resorts could lose a quarter of their snow in 15 years, and half by 2050. The worst case was a 96 per cent loss of snow by mid-century.

CSIRO – Simulations of future snow conditions in the Australian alpine regions

Conclusion:

The low impact scenario for 2020 has a minor impact on snow conditions. Average season lengths are reduced by around five days. Reductions in peak depths are usually less than 10%, but can be larger at lower sites (e.g. Mt Baw Baw and Wellington High Plains).

The high impact scenario for 2020 leads to reductions of 30-40 days in average season lengths. At higher sites such as Mt Hotham, this can represent reductions in season duration of about 25%, but at lower sites such as Mt Baw Baw the reduction can be more significant (up to 60%)…

We have very high confidence (at least 95%) that the low impact scenarios will be exceeded and the high impact scenarios will not be exceeded.

Carbon Dioxide ‘Pollution’ On Vacation In Hawaii

RECORD Snow Hawaii - CLIMATISM.png

Source Photo : Things People in Hawaii Generally Don’t Have to Worry About

“The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd; indeed in view of the silliness of the majority of mankind, a widespread belief is more likely to be foolish than sensible.” – Bertrand Russel

***

ANTHROPOGENIC global warming theory implies that mankind’s gasses, primarily, carbon dioxide (deceptively known as “carbon pollution” for politics and shock value) is supposed to be warming the lower troposphere – the first 10 kilometres of Earth’s atmosphere.

WHILE the fingerprint for Carbon Dioxide forcing exists in computer simulations, it is yet to be found in the physical world:

THE MISSING ‘HOT SPOT’

hot-spot-model-predicted

One of the most important pieces of the climate change debate rarely cited … the missing ‘Hot-Spot’ | The Missing Hot Spot | Climatism

*

WHILE debate rages about the causes of global warming, most of the public and our policy makers are not aware of the most basic salient facts:

1. The greenhouse signature is missing. We have been looking and measuring for years, and cannot find it.

Each possible cause of global warming has a different pattern of where in the planet the warming occurs first and the most. The signature of an increased greenhouse effect is a hot spot about 10km up in the atmosphere over the tropics. We have been measuring the atmosphere for decades using radiosondes: weather balloons with thermometers that radio back the temperature as the balloon ascends through the atmosphere. They show no hot spot. Whatsoever.

If there is no hot spot then an increased greenhouse effect is not the cause of global warming. So we know for sure that carbon emissions are not a significant cause of the global warming. If we had found the greenhouse signature then I would be an alarmist again.

S-NO-W HOT SPOT OVER HAWAII!

BESIDES precipitation, the most important element required for snow to form is cold air. Yesterday’s winter blast set a new (interim) record cold temperature for the 50th state of -12°F or -11.1°C.

via weather.com :

Just after midnight on Monday, a number of sensors atop Mauna Kea dipped below 12 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the Mauna Kea Weather Center, a facility supporting a number of telescopes atop the 13,770-foot volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Screen Shot 2019-02-13 at 1.47.51 am.png

If those temperatures are deemed accurate, at least four of those sensors would exceed the official all-time state record low in Hawaii of 12 degrees (-11.1 degrees Celsius) also set atop Mauna Kea on May 17, 1979.

IT’S ONLY WEATER, BUT…

GLOBAL Warming alarmists have already been quick to denounce this as just a weather event, which it is. “You’re confusing weather with climate!” they insist on my twitter account. As they themselves aggressively look for the next heatwave, flood, drought or forest fire to blame on “CLIMATE CHANGE!”.

REMEMBER that rule: Cold = Weather, Hot = Climate.

YES, this is just a weather event. However, it’s worth keeping in mind that such “weather” including the record cold and snow experienced in the current NH winter was not expected in the era of the “HOTTEST XXX EVAHH”, so gleefully marketed by the global warming theory obsessed mainstream media.

IN FACT, according to the ‘97% consensus’ of ‘climate experts’ and sycophant mainstream media, “Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past“. And, “a very rare and exciting event [where] children just aren’t going to know what snow is.”

ALARMISTS U-TURN

NOW, of course, climate scientists are trying to dig themselves out of snow that’s kept falling…

NB//

“Interestingly, some scientists have stated that increasing snow is consistent with climate change because warmer air holds more moisture, more water vapor and this can result in more storms with heavy precipitation. The trick, of course, is having sufficient cold air to produce that snow. But note that 93% of the years with more than 60″ of snow in Boston were colder than average years. The reality is cooling, not warming, increases snowfall.” – Veteran Meteorologist Barry Burbank

BUT, one thing is a “97%” certainty within the current and scary world of post-modern climate ‘science’ – whatever scenario suits and supports the political and ideological position of man-made ‘climate change’ will be predicted, promoted and spread like a hurricane within the compliant mainstream media, throughout our most ‘esteemed’ scientific institutions, our schools and of course throughout academia – DAMN the data and real-world evidence!

AUSTRALIA’s Great Barrier Reef, all-too-often garners the attention of the mainstream media for all the wrong reasons. It has long been a favoured icon of the $2,000,000,000,000 US per year (2 Trillion) Climate Crisis Industry used to push their draconian, CO2 Climate Change agenda. How dare we actually get to enjoy the Reef’s overwhelming pristine beauty!

WHILE protection of the reef is a no-brainer, the ludicrous scaremongering by global warming activists about the “dying” reef is costing Australians jobs and money:

THREE surveys conducted in Britain, China, and the United States, have shown citizens in those countries – when the situation is raised with them – say that are concerned that the world-renowned reef is under severe threat. And many would reconsider visiting as a result…

An estimated 175,000 fewer tourists could visit Australia if the bleaching persists and worse if the [claimed] damage becomes permanent.

The polls, which surveyed the attitudes and awareness of 1000 people in each market, found potential visitors were concerned over the state of the reef, which in turn could feed into them deciding to visit other Australian attractions or to go to places other than Australia entirely.

The finding suggests the tourism businesses and related local economies adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef, could suffer the loss of 10,000 jobs and that the Australian economy could lose as much as $1 billion per year in overseas income.

The reef supports an estimated 70,000 jobs in the tourism and related sectors and accounts for a significant proportion of Australia’s tourist income.

COCKATOO REEF is a piece of the reef that the climate change zealots haven’t yet spoiled with a government grant or a pal-reviewed acid-attack. And is yet to be sullied by the panicked-pen of Sydney Morning Herald’s climate catastrophist-in-chief Peter Hannam.

SO, enjoy the Cockatoo blue hole in all its glory, before it’s put on the threatened species list by the CO2-centrics and mainstream media hacktivists.

Blue hole thinking

Getting to this remote sinkhole in the Great Barrier Reef was a mission. And what marine biologist Johnny Gaskell found in it blew him away…

By ROSS BILTON

Heart of the Nation- Cockatoo Reef, Queensland | The Australian

Cockatoo Reef Blue Hole, Great Barrier Reef. Picture: Johnny Gaskell

From The Weekend Australian Magazine February 1, 2019

Johnny Gaskell’s fascination with the blue holes of the Great Barrier Reef began when he was hunched over his computer one night in 2017. The marine biologist, tasked with finding coral colonies that might have escaped the ravages of Cyclone Debbie, was poring over satellite images on Google Maps when he noticed a weird anomaly — a circular indigo spot — in Cockatoo Reef, part of the remote Pompey Complex 200km off Mackay. All he could find about it online was a 1979 scientific paper that confirmed it was a marine sinkhole (you’ll have seen pictures of terrestrial versions, swallowing up entire houses) and one of a handful in the Great Barrier Reef. It gave Gaskell an idea: might these deep holes, protected from storms, harbour undamaged coral?

His first exploratory trip, to a blue hole near his base on Daydream Island in the Whitsundays, confirmed this hunch. And not only was the coral pristine, it was unlike anything he’d seen before: over decades in the 30m-deep, perfectly still water it had developed “very delicate, elongated, spindly branches” that looked like abstract sculptures. He found himself wondering, Why aren’t these blue holes better known?

Last November, the answer became clear when he finally made it out to the Pompey Complex to dive the Cockatoo Reef blue hole and two others. A 12-hour boat trip offshore, it’s a treacherous area: huge tides race through the reef channels, and even modern charts mark sections as “Unsurveyed”. Gaskell, 37, had to wait for slack water during a neap tide to thread his tender through Cockatoo Reef to its 220m-wide blue hole, a little oasis of perfect calm. He snapped this shot with a drone.

Such adventures are a far cry from his childhood in central Victoria, studying critters that he’d scoop out of creeks with a jam jar. Next winter he’s planning to visit another, unnamed blue hole hinted at in that 1979 paper — the most remote and mysterious one yet. “Legend has it it’s 70m deep,” he says. What does he expect to find? “Who knows? Big sharks,” he laughs.

SNOW : Setting The Record Straight

SNOW - Climatism

SNOW

THE problem with lying or perpetuating a scam is that you have to be aware of the spin you’ve spun to get you there.

IN the realm of climate and weather, you pray to god (or Gaia) that the prognostications and rules, as laid out by the “97%” of ‘experts’, come to fruition or go close enough to bolster your alarmist position.

CLIMATE and weather outcomes vary greatly, depending on many factors, most of which we are yet to fully understand. Perhaps if ever, owing to the fact that “The climate system is a coupled non-linear chaotic system, and therefore the long-term prediction of future climate states is not possible.” (IPCC TAR 2001)

WITH that in mind, it is feasible and encouraged to identify errors in predictions. From this we can identify uncertainty in order to sharpen hypothesis and curb costly hysteria.

A good example of climate predictions gone awry is in the area of snow.

2006 : Daniela Jacob of Max Planck Institute for Meterology, Hamburg …

“Yesterday’s snow… Because temperatures in the Alps are rising quickly, there will be more precipitation in many places. But because it will rain more often than it snows, this will be bad news for tourists. For many ski lifts this means the end of business.”

AUSTRALIA’S ‘premier’ science body, the CSIRO, is a prime example of a government funded agency who has been fatally captured by global warming groupthink and climate change hysteria, resulting in a litany of failed predictions and costly fear-mongering, thanks in part to their own contribution to the global set of overheated climate models.

AN example of the CSIRO’s fealty towards the Climate Crisis Industry can be seen in the use of sea level rise figures far in excess of even the IPCC…

In its 2012 report, State of the Climate, the CSIRO says that since 1993 sea levels have risen up to 10mm a year in the north and west. That means that somewhere has had a 19cm-rise in sea level since 1993. Where is this place? The European satellite says that sea levels have been constant for the past eight years.
