GLACIER CALVING
THE main thrust of the piece is of calving glaciers.

MEMO to Kyle: Glacier calving is an entirely natural process, reflecting the very health of a glacier. The more snow that falls, the more icebergs come out the other end!
Many glaciers terminate at oceans or freshwater lakes which results naturally[5] with the calving of large numbers of icebergs. Calving of Greenland‘s glaciers produce 12,000 to 15,000 icebergs each year alone.[6]

Summer is over, and Greenland’s surface has gained 510 billion tons of ice over the past year – about 40% above normal. The surface mass budget is snow/ice accumulation minus melt. It does not include ice loss caused by glaciers flowing to the sea, which is very difficult to measure, and is driven by processes which have little to do with the current climate.

No one knows how long this divergence of surplus ice will persist, but for now 2018 Arctic ice extent resembles a hockey stick. Presently the ice is 525k km2 above 11 year average (2007 to 2017 inclusive) and ~1M km2 greater than 2007. More detailed report from July 14 below.
In June 2018, Arctic ice extent held up against previous years despite the Pacific basins of Bering and Okhotsk being ice-free. The Arctic core is showing little change, perhaps due to increased thickness (volume) as reported by DMI.

The National Climate Assessment claims unambiguous warming globally and in the US since 1880.

They show a very detailed graph and map which expresses the claimed warming.
All that red looks pretty scary. Red is the color of fire, and it isn’t hard to convince some people that their carbon sins will lead to hell fire.
What they aren’t telling is that their graph and map are fake. They have no idea what global temperatures were in 1880, 1900, 1920, 1940, or in fact the present, because outside of the US there is very little verifiable data.

Earlier this week we learned Michael Mann and his fraudulent Hockey Stick have been slapped down in a Canadian court. Mann was ordered to produce the data on which his fake claim was based (as good science demands). He refused the request and Contempt of Court charges will follow!
Add EPA Pruitt’s “red team” to the mix and the house of climate cards is looking like a dangerous place to reside!

A new study found adjustments made to global surface temperature readings by scientists in recent years “are totally inconsistent with published and credible U.S. and other temperature data.”
“Thus, it is impossible to conclude from the three published GAST data sets that recent years have been the warmest ever – despite current claims of record setting warming,” according to a study published June 27 by two scientists and a veteran statistician.
The peer-reviewed study tried to validate current surface temperature datasets managed by NASA, NOAA and the UK’s Met Office, all of which make adjustments to raw thermometer readings. Skeptics of man-made global warming have criticized the adjustments.

Climatism comment : IPCC could fix Northern and Global Warming ‘crisis’ in one small meeting in Stockholm tonight by restoring stolen temperature data.
A sad indictment on society and science that such a simple climate ‘fix’ is possible.
But of course, as with the 17 year “warming pause” denial by warmists and the IPCC, they expressly do not want the climate to ‘fix’ – too many snouts in the climate change trough, too many reputations at stake and too many social(ist) experiments still to conduct.
Real Science
The majority of Northern Hemisphere warming over the last century is man made, and due to data tampering by government scientists.
In 1975, the National Academy of Sciences published the graph below, showing a dramatic cooling in the Northern Hemisphere from the 1930s until 1970, with the 1970 temperature about the same as 1910.

NASA has since erased most of that post-1930s cooling, and made 1910 much cooler than 1970.

The next graph overlays the current GISS graph (green) on the 1975 National Academy of Sciences graph. You can see how they massively cooled the period from 1890 to 1970, with the most dramatic data tampering being during the hot years of the 1920s and 1930s.
The graph below shows the impressive hockey stick of data tampering done by GISS relative to the original National Academy of Sciences temperatures.
