IT’S been 30 years since former NASA climate director James E. Hansen, sponsored by Democrat senator Timothy Wirth, made his ‘stage-crafted’ testimony to the U.S. Senate proclaiming that human emissions were dangerously heating the planet.
IT was Hansen’s testimony – made on a sweltering summer’s day during then the hottest year on record – that put climate change on the front page of newspapers.

The latter part of Briffa’s trees was deleted, because it didn’t match GISS temperatures.

As ugly as this was, it is worse than it seems. Briffa’s trees did match Hansen, 1981. The next graph overlays Briffa on Hansen, 1981 northern latitude temperatures. The match was almost perfect.

In order to create the hockey stick cheat, they had to do the GISS data tampering cheat first. The entire basis of the hockey stick is junk science.
The destruction of this data was done in a calculated fashion, by the world’s top climate scientists.

They did exactly what Wigley was suggesting, removing more than 0.15 C from 1940’s global temperatures. This tampering is what made the hockey stick possible. Graph below is normalized to 1978.

A Good Visualization Of The Increase In Corruption At NASA Since 1999

As of 1999, NASA (red below) was doing a minimal amount of tampering with the US temperature record. They were only cooling the 1930’s by about 0.1C relative to present temperatures. Measured temperatures are green.
Compare that to their current version, which cools the 1930’s by nearly 0.7C relative to present temperatures.
According to NOAA documentation, they use the same TOBS correction as they were using in 1999. So the only reasonable explanation is that they are intentionally corrupting the temperature record.

The article notes no significant change in average temperatures or rainfall in the United States over entire [100 year] period :

After examining climate data extending back nearly 100 years, a team of Government scientists has concluded that there has been no significant change in average temperatures or rainfall in the United States over that entire period.
While the nation’s weather in individual years or even for periods of years has been hotter or cooler and drier or wetter than in other periods, the new study shows that over the last century there has been no trend in one direction or another.
The study, made by scientists for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration was published in the current issue of Geophysical Research Letters. It is based on temperature and precipitation readings taken at weather stations around the country from 1895 to 1987.

The 1999 NASA version of US temperatures confirm the NY Times article, showing no significant change in average temperature. Though a sharp decline from the warm 1930′s to the 1990′s is present.

But in the year 2000, NASA and NOAA altered the historical US temperature record, which now shows that there was about one degree centigrade US warming during the century before 1989.
The current version shows an increase from the 1930′s to the 1990′s. The past magically changed!

The blink comparator below shows the huge changes which have been made to the US temperature record since 1999. The past has been massively cooled, and the present has been massively warmed. A cooling trend has been turned into a warming trend, by adjusting the data.

NOAA and NASA do spectacular amounts of tampering to the US temperature data set, which actually reverses the measured trend. This comes at a very high price.
- The history of the country is destroyed
- Bad policy is implemented as a result
- Children’s educations are wrecked by feeding them intellectual garbage
- The economy is damaged by taxes and destructive policies to restrict CO2
- Science itself is wrecked. People attempting to interpret the data are trying to draw conclusions based on garbage data. Thus their conclusions are also garbage.
Amazing how a small handful of unscrupulous people can wreak so much havoc.
GISS Data Tampering – Worse Than You Thought

The graph below shows GISS US temperatures five year mean. At first glance, it looks like the US is really heating up.

Now compare that to the actual GHCN thermometer data which the graph is based on. They look nothing alike. The 1930s were much hotter.
The next graph overlays the published GISS temperature (red) on the thermometer data (blue) normalized to 2003. You can see that they have massively cooled the past relative to the present – to create the appearance of non-existent warming.
Next, let’s compare the actual data to what GISS published in 1999, before they started their most serious tampering.
