South Australia’s utopian scheme of transforming itself into a green energy powerhouse has officially failed.
Climate and green-energy sceptics have been warning of the disastrous consequences of the ideological scramble toward green centrally planned, renewable energy, for many years. And on September 28, the chickens certainly came home to roost with South Australia’s total statewide blackout.
The green folly was founded on two apocalyptic fears: firstly, that global warming was an urgent threat that needed to be prevented at all cost, and secondly, that the world was running out of fossil fuels, which meant that oil and gas would inexorably become ever more expensive. Both conjectures, however, turned out to be bogus.
Great review STT and Dellers.
The most recent grid collapse in South Australia (one that was not the first and which will, by no means, be the last) has left it the butt of jokes in its neighbouring States (not attempting to run on sunshine and breezes) and around the World.
For a – ‘don’t say we didn’t warn you’ – chuckle, we’ll start the batting with STT Champion, ‘Slim Jim’ Delingpole.
Ill Wind: Australia’s Greenest State Blacked Out By Power Cuts
28 September 2016
The entire state of South Australia was blacked out by power cuts last night sending 1.67 million householders back to the dark ages. This comes just days after a report called Keeping The Lights On warned that black outs might be a consequence of the state’s radical green energy policies.
Local media has blamed it on “the most extreme weather systems to hit in 50 years.” But a…

Excellent summary of the groupthink language and clickbait propaganda that is trotted out near verbatim, not only by AP journalist (eco-activist) Seth Borenstein, but by all who are swept up and infected with the “Climate Crisis Inc.” virus…
Guest post by David Middleton
Is Seth Borenstein a journalist or a political activist? This should matter to the Associated Press, but it clearly doesn’t.
When I opened up the Real Clear Energy webpage this morning, I found the usual mix of articles relevant to energy (~20%) and environmental nonsense (~80%), including a particularly ignorant rant from Seth Borenstein. When did energy and climate science become conflated? If climate science is actually science, shouldn’t it be on the Real Clear Science webpage?
Anyway, back to Seth Borenstein’s amazingly ignorant rant…
WHY IT MATTERS: Climate Change
By SETH BORENSTEIN

WASHINGTON (AP) — WASHINGTON (AP) — THE ISSUE: It’s as if Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump live on two entirely different Earths: one warming, one not.
Clinton says climate change “threatens us all,” while Trump tweets that global warming is “mythical” and repeatedly refers to…

Climate Change alarmist scientist “eager for media attention”, and no doubt, government grants, caught out by actual real-world evidence!
How many other ‘climate change’ researchers and government scientists blame humans on any ecological anomaly to gain attention, and cash in on the grant-driven global warming gravy train?
A part-time Arctic researcher eager for media attention suggested earlier today that the ice entrapment of narwhals in 2008 and again in 2015at Pond Inlet (that made headlines around the world) was the result of “sudden changes in temperature” caused by climate change. This grossly misleading claim ignores the facts: ice entrapment of narwhals is an entirely natural feature of the Arctic that has been known about for hundreds of years.
“Narwhals: the ‘giant unicorn of the sea’ at risk from climate change” (CBC, 13 August 2016), a print version of a CBC Radio interview with Clint Wright that aired 8 August 2016. Wright is the general manager at the Vancouver Aquarium and apparently has “joined a team of researchers to tag and study” narwhals for several years – but does not seem to know much about the history or…

The United Nations is financed mostly by taxpayers from a few donor countries but the large and growing bureaucracy is too far removed from those taxpayers to be directly accountable to them. It is run by unelected, unaccountable, undisciplined, and incompetent bureaucrats. The organization’s size, budget, and scope are unconstrained. The budget funding process provides perverse incentives for these bureaucrats to increase the size and scope of their organization simply by creating multitudes of agencies and programs, and by inventing problems and environmental crises set on a global scale.
An article about the failings of the UN highlights a paper by our friend Jamal Munshi -Professor Emeritus at Sonoma State University:
The situation has become so bad that some academics have concluded that it is time to shut down the UN’s out-of-control bureaucracies. A paper by Sonoma State University Professor Emeritus Jamal Munshi published by the Social Science Research Network, for example, makes a solid case for ditching the UN environmental bureaucracy. Under the headline “The United Nations: An Unconstrained Bureaucracy,” the June 2016 paper concludes that “unconstrained and undisciplined public sector bureaucracies do not serve the interest of the public” and that “such UN bureaucracies can safely be dismantled without any harm to the public interest.”
In a note to The New American, Professor Munshi said that “the case study is specific to the UNEP, however, the broader conclusion that we can draw from the UNEP…

The alleged weakening of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation appears to be triggering a growing amount of speculation about abrupt cooling, like the plot of the movie “The Day After Tomorrow”.
Crippled Atlantic currents triggered ice age climate change
The last ice age wasn’t one long big chill. Dozens of times temperatures abruptly rose or fell, causing all manner of ecological change. Mysteriously, ice cores from Greenland and Antarctica show that these sudden shifts—which occurred every 1500 years or so—were out of sync in the two hemispheres: When it got cold in the north, it grew warm in the south, and vice versa. Now, scientists have implicated the culprit behind those seesaws—changes to a conveyor belt of ocean currents known as the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC).

I have definitely become more violent, over the past ten years, since moving from the uplifting, bitter cold winters of Southern Australia to the depressing tropical heat of South East Asia.
Yet another ‘global warming causes everything’ agitprop study.
Does anyone actually believe the constant, daily climate BS being drilled into them anymore?! Studies on belief and interest on majority man-made ‘warming’ suggest they don’t…
From the “murder rate must be highest near the equator” department comes this odd piece of research
Researchers offer new theory on how climate affects violence
Climate impacts life strategies, time orientation, self-control
OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Researchers have long struggled to explain why some violent crime rates are higher near the equator than other parts of the world. Now, a team of researchers have developed a model that could help explain why.
This new model goes beyond the simple fact that hotter temperatures seem to be linked to more aggressive behavior.
The researchers believe that hot climates and less variation in seasonal temperatures leads to a faster life strategy, less focus on the future, and less self-control – all of which contribute to more aggression and violence.
“Climate shapes how people live, it affects the culture in ways that we don’t think about in our daily lives,”…

The Left has far more to fear from demands to criminalise dud claims about global warming:
Thirteen state GOP attorneys general have sent a letter to the Democratic AG’s who are investigating ExxonMobile for fraud in climate change research, telling them that if minimizing the danger of climate change is fraud, so is exaggerating the peril. They threaten to prosecute climate alarmists for making spectacular claims of disaster that have not materialized…
The “cuts both ways” argument was among those raised by 13 Republican attorneys general in a letter urging their Democratic counterparts to stop using their law enforcement power against fossil fuel companies and others that challenge the climate change catastrophe narrative.
“Consider carefully the legal precedent and threat to free speech, said the state prosecutors in their letter this week, headed by Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange.
“If it is possible to minimize the…
