Although it is still 3-4 days away, rapidly strengthening Hurricane Florence is increasing the threat of a major hurricane landfall somewhere within 120 miles or so of Wilmington, NC. If it reaches that area as a Cat 4 storm, the damage produced will be extensive, likely amounting to tens of billions of dollars.
By coincidence, the hurricane disaster (if it unfolds) will occur during this year’sGlobal Climate Action Summit(Sept. 12-14) in San Francisco, possibly the most star-studded climate alarmist extravaganza in existence, with climate experts such as Al Gore, Alec Baldwin, Andrea Mitchell, Catherine McKenna, Dave Matthews, Jane Goodall, John Kerry, and Tom Steyer.
As we all know, these are people who lead by example in their efforts to reduce their so-called carbon footprints.

As climate change brings rising temperatures, droughts, shifting patterns of precipitation and longer growing seasons, plants and animals are evolving to keep pace.
Biologists have observed squirrels and salmon developing at an accelerated pace, causing them to reproduce at a younger age. Earlier summers have caused some flowers to bloom earlier in the year. And corals are forging new relationships with microscopic algae to survive in warmer, more acidic seas.
As the planet continues to warm, evolutionary changes are expected in other species as well — including Homo sapiens. Climate change will alter the internal workings of our bodies in subtle but significant ways and will likely cause a noticeable shift in our appearance.
INSIDE THE BODY
A warmer climate means malaria, West Nile virus and other diseases long confined primarily to the tropics will spread into temperate zones. As a result, people living in the U.S. and other developed nations will be exposed to these illnesses, and our immune systems will be forced to evolve new defenses. That, in turn, could cause other, noninfectious diseases.

AUSTRALIAN high-energy, thermal coal export earnings and volumes are running at record rates on the back of strong Asian power station demand. While it is early days, the July 2018 revenue figure is 31 per cent up on July 2017.

EXPORT volumes rose 10 per cent to a record 19.87 million tonnes, representing an annual rate of 238 million tonnes.
FEDERAL Resources Minister Matt Canavan said the figures backed up previous expectations that Australia’s high-energy coal would be in demand from Asia’s growing coal-fired power sector as it chased better air quality and lower emissions.
THE strong thermal coal exports come as combined exports of east coast thermal coal, used to generate electricity, and coking coal, used to make steel, overtake West Australian exports of iron ore as the nation’s top export.
ACCORDING to the ABS data, July’s combined coal exports beat iron ore for the third straight month, coming in at $5.58bn, compared to iron ore’s $4.74bn.
CHINESE coal-fired power generation was up 7.3 per cent in the first seven months of this year, from a year earlier.
AND Australia’s higher-quality coal, in terms of energy content, is being favoured over domestic mines and import competitors such as Indonesia as China tries to combat air pollution.
THE strength in coal prices has favoured those prepared to invest against a growing campaign and activism against thermal coal.
