‘GREEN’ Energy Future

“We get a tax credit if we build a lot of wind farms. That’s the only reason to build them. They don’t make sense without the tax credit.” – Warren Buffett

“Suggesting that renewables will let us phase rapidly off fossil fuels in the United States, China, India, or the world as a whole is almost the equivalent of believing in the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy.” – James Hansen (The Godfather of global warming alarmism and former NASA climate chief)

“Renewable energy technologies simply won’t work; we need a fundamentally different approach.” – Top Google engineers

STATE-SANCTIONED RARE BIRD AND BAT SLAUGHTER

WIND lobbyists say bird deaths are small compared with millions that collide with windows etc. This is a fallacy. The argument ignores affected species. If 50 pigeons fly into windows, it has no effect on population. But, when a breeding Raptor is chopped, it represents a significant loss for the species…

SOLAR

It’s not easy being green: Ivanpah solar plant near Nevada burns a lot of natural gas, making it a greenhouse gas emitter under state law.

The Ivanpah solar project, seen from the air in February 2014, burns enough natural gas to be required to take part in the state’s Cap and Trade program to reduce emissions.

IF Greens love nature, why aren’t they more concerned about carpeting pristine landscapes with industrial wind turbines and toxic, non-renewable solar panels?

All this without empirical evidence that relates warming to fossil fuel emissions

Okay, I get it, you all don’t like the wind turbines, so what is the answer? Coal and oil kill a whole heck of a lot more animals than wind turbines and they pollute the air we breath and poison the water we drink. I am with you, and would rather not have them dotting our country sides, but I would rather see them in the interim while we come up with a better solution than have everything that I come in contact with be poisonous and contaminated. Wind turbines can always be dismantled and most of the material reclaimed and recycled, oil can’t be and its doing irreversible damage to us and our environment, not to mention we are killing each other over the crap. Instead of bitching about the problem, lets come up with a solution and make oil, coal and wind turbine technology a thing of the past.

“Bitching about the problem”. Perhaps “diagnosing the problem” more where I am coming from.
Unreliables – wind / solar are feel-good solutions to a non-problem. They can and will never be able to provide baseload power to run cities and industry.
If you are worried about colourless, odourless, trace and plant food CO2 then think Nuclear – fusion and or fission.

Lastly, without fossil fuels, every tree on the planet would have been cut down by now to provide for cooking and heating.

We know what the problem is, it doesn’t need any more diagnosing, we need solutions. Wind and solar aren’t feel-good solutions if we stop trying to fix the problem with one pill. Maybe the answers we are looking for aren’t at the national power grid level and more at the individual residential or business level. I know where I live, solar and wind is a reliable source of energy and there are several businesses within a few miles of my home that power their entire operation on wind and solar alone, Budweiser being one of them.

I will never think nuclear, we are already dealing with the ramifications of failed nuclear energy plants. I know that there is some research being done on safe cold fusion but it is minimal at best because of lack of funding and big oil can’t make enough money on the deal.

The answers are there, we just need to find them.

The biggest problem I see is rent seeking, crony capitalists cashing in on literally trillions of dollars of other people’s money for ‘unreliable’, expensive and intermittent energy that provides 2% of the worlds energy needs.
This outright thievery driven by the biggest environmental and scientific scam in the history of mankind. Subsequently ruining people’s lives (fuel poverty) and damaging the environment – slaughtering millions of birds and bats, scarring pristine landscapes and ruining people’s lives with infrasound – in the case of wind farms. And in both cases – industrial wind and solar – backed up 24/7 by *fossil fuels*….for when the wind don’t blow and the sun don’t shine.

I do like the propaganda pictures on this page, the cartoon of the peaceful power plant and the birds flying in the back ground is a great one.

How about we show pictures of thousands of dead birds, seals, fish and other marine life from the just one oil spill? You don’t even have to use a big one, just pick an oil spill that happened in our life time, last fifty years lets say.

Why not show the ground contamination caused by the oil and coal industry and the thousands of animals being poisoned and dying?

How about showing some pictures terminal cancer patients, dying because their environment is so toxic from the pollution being generated by the fossil fuel industry.

How about we show some pictures of the towns in the US that are now uninhabitable because the coal industry came in raped the land. When they were done making money they just left, they poisoned the land, the people and then just left.

How about you all show the pictures of the town in Pennsylvania that is now uninhabitable because for the last forty plus years the earth has been on fire. The coal company just packed its bags and left, they just left. The place looks like a nuclear blast sight, its toxic and spewing toxic gases into environment. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralia,_Pennsylvania

How about you show some pictures of the millions of crabs and other marine life washing up dead on N. California beaches from the Fujikawa nuclear reactor disaster in Japan. For the love of mud, we are poisoning an entire ocean and killing everything including ourselves with radiation.

I understand what you all are trying to say and I agree to some extent, but, wind turbans have a far less impact on the environment than the fossil fuel and nuclear industry does. And when better technology comes along they can be taken down and the land they sit on is still viable, unlike coal, oil and nuclear sites that will forever be polluting our environment long after the structures are gone.

Ever thought of the industrial and mining requirements needed to build hundreds of thousands of windmills that “can be taken down”…”when better technology comes along” (eh eh)…. with each of these Industrial turbines weighing anywhere between 60-260 tonnes, built of Coking coal, Steel, cement and rare-earth magnets?
Not to mention the toxic pollution from rare earth mining pits dug to extract materials for wind/solar.
And all put together, delivered, installed, repaired and backed up by our friend ‘fossil fuels’…. In regulation free China or perhaps India.

Sound like where ‘doubling up’ until your magic “technology” comes along, no?!

      😉

Oil spills ARE destructive, of course. There must be information on long-term effects on environment, whether the oil spill eventually heals itself through oil biodegrading, and whether the same could be said for the poisonous waste from eg solar.
