@Twitter @Support is not playing by their own rules in the unfair suspension of climate skeptic Tom Nelson

Watts Up With That?

I don’t regularly take up causes on WUWT, but this one sticks in my craw for the sheer pointlessness of it all. To borrow an overused phrase from the warmist movement, this is a “canary in the coal mine for free speech and climate skepticism”. Yesterday, I posted Abusive censorship on Twitter – same word used by Gavin Schmidt gets commenter banned.

In that post, you can see the exchange and what appears to be the reason, simply using the word “crap” to describe a graph. Nelson compared his use of the word to how Gavin Schmidt has used the word on Twitter in the past. In keeping with Team ‘no culpability” policy, Gavin complains there’s no comparison, and wants to be left out of the issue. Of course he does.

gavin-suspendOf course, Gavin doesn’t seem to mind abusing Tom:

Watts Up With That?

twitter-logoNot being able to win arguments on merits, a complaint was apparently made to ban/suspend Tom Nelson from Twitter for using the very same description of a graph that climate scientist Gavin Schmidt made.

Tom Nelson alerts me via email of this, last week it was Steven Goddard, whose account has been reinstated after massive complaints to Twitter. This week, we have the same tactic against Tom Nelson. He writes:

On March 22, After I posted this graph,
@ClimateOfGavin called it “crap”.

I then posted @KHayhoe’s “mother of all hockey sticks” below, and asked if it was “crap”.
Today, April 1, Twitter informed me that my account was “locked” until I deleted this tweet:

Twitter then unlocked my account.  After I posted the “Delete tweet” screen shot above, I was suspended.

If calling a graph “crap” is grounds for suspension, why isn’t @ClimateofGavin suspended?

Twitmo Honor Roll

wyoskeptic

First, they came for the Jews

And I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the Communists

And I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists

And I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for me

And there was no one left to speak out for me.

Pastor Martin Niemöller

Another line can be added to that poem.

Then they came for the Skeptics

(or Climate Deniers or whatever the Put-down-du jour is.)

So I have decided that an honor roll for those skeptics and deniers who get booted from Twitter is in order.

I’ll start with Tony from Real Science, aka Steve Goddard:

Then for the next honoree:

Tom Nelson:
